Student Data Privacy 

State and Federal laws regulate the privacy of a student's personally identifiable information (PII). This can include any and all information that can be used to identify, locate, or contact and individual student; such as name, address, and student ID. This can also include a student's academic, health, and disciplinary records as well as information that can be combine to identify a student, like demographics and birth date.

How Does the Dayton School District Ensure Compliance With the Law

The Dayton School District is a member of the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC). The SDPC is a "collaborative of schools, districts, divisions, regional territories and state agencies, policy makers, trade organizations and marketplace providers addressing real-world, adaptable, and implementable solutions to growing data privacy concerns." As part of the organization, the Dayton School District uses the National Data Privacy Agreement. The goal is to have this agreement sign by all vendors that deploy software in our district. The agreement covers what data is collected, how and where is it store, and much more. 

Digital Resources 

District staff can request new apps and programs. These requests are fielded by our Teaching and Learning team in cooperation with our District Technology department. The app/ program is made available when the request has been reviewed and a student data privacy agreement is in place.
