Section 504

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 helps to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to Educational opportunities. 

Through Section 504, 504 plans can be available to students who are experiencing disabilities but do not require the Specially Designed Instruction that is core to the IEP process and special education services, but are still needing support in accessing their education. 

A 504 plan outlines and details a plan for this accessibility in the educational environment and will include accommodations for the student, determined by a team and implemented by school staff.
