Dayton's Special Education department provides specialized programs and/or services to approximately 15 percent of the district’s student population.
Dayton School District complies with the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Oregon state law in the evaluation, placement, and services to students who qualify as a student with a disability.
Special education issues can be complex. The goal of Student Services is to collaborate with parents to best meet the needs of their students. Every special education student is assigned a case manager who is directly responsible for the development and implementation of the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Parents can contact their student’s case manager with questions and/or concerns.
We also participate in Child Find and work with building administrators to address the needs of students with behavioral challenges.
