Interdistrict Transfers
HB2747 establishes rules and procedures for transfers between school districts (interdistrict student transfers). This permits students to enroll in a school that is not in their district of residence. Students wishing to transfer into or out of Dayton School District must complete transfer requests at BOTH the resident and non-resident school district offices.
Request to Attend Dayton
The Interdistrict transfer window for the 2025-2026 school year is April 1 - June 15, 2025.
Transfer applications into Dayton for the 2025-2026 school year are now open. Between April 1 and June 15, 2025, students must request a release from their resident district and submit an application to attend Dayton School District. If there are more applications than available slots, the District will conduct an equitable lottery to fill the open slots after the window closes on June 15, 2025. Applications will be processed following the close of the transfer window which is June 15, 2025. Families will be notified by U.S. Mail to the address provided in your application no later than July 15, 2025.
Students attending any school within Dayton School District as an Interdistrict Transfer are expected to maintain satisfactory behavior and attendance. If a student receives one or more major referrals and/ or falls below 90% attendance, that may result in a student’s transfer being revoked. When a student's transfer is revoked, they will have to return to their school of residence. The district will review all Interdistrict Transfer students behavior and grade data on a quarterly basis.
Request for Release from Dayton
Release Form - If you live in the Dayton School District and would like your student to attend school in another district, please complete the application form below. This application is only for requesting a transfer out of the Dayton school District.
The Dayton School Board has approved releasing any family applying for interdistrict transfer out of the Dayton School District. Families will be notified of their approval for a release within two weeks of submitting an application. If you have any questions please call 503-864-2215 or email stephanie.oliveira@dayton.k12.or.us for more information.
Transfer to Public Virtual Charter Schools
In order to transfer to a public virtual charter school, you must submit in writing an intent to enroll to the Dayton School District. Submit your letter of intent to Stephanie Oliveira, stephanie.oliveira@dayton.k12.or.us. Questions about enrollment procedures should be directed to the specific charter school.
Per ODE a district may release up to 3% of its student population to public virtual charter schools. If a district has reached its 3% cap, the intent to enroll may be denied.
