Getting Started as a Volunteer

Dayton School District welcomes volunteers.  Teaching experience or professional experience is not required. A volunteer’s most important qualification is a genuine interest in helping students succeed.

There are many ways to get involved with your school. Volunteer opportunities vary from school to school. Please contact the individual school to learn how you can help students or teachers in the classroom or school.

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer screening process which includes a criminal history background check and Mandatory Volunteer Training.  All background checks must be renewed every year.

All Volunteer applicants are required to review the Mandatory Volunteer Training and agree to adhere to all of the requirements. Please follow the step below to access the training:

1. Go the the training site: Sexual Conduct Training for Volunteers and Contractors    
 
2. Click Register Button

3. Enter the code (codes are below for contractor, volunteer, and parent)

4. Create username and enter your name.

5. Click location and select your members entity name. This is an important step to ensure the entity receives your training certification. It's also important to save the PDF version of your certification for future use or with other entities you may visit or work with.

6. Once logged in, if the course does not come up right away, follow the path below.
      Library > Human Resources > Sexual Misconduct > Full Course (Oregon)

7. Start the training and complete at your convenience.

8. Once you have successfully finished the training, a record of the class will be provided to print. A record will also be stored in the entity you selected showing completion of the course. 

Please complete the Criminal History and Volunteer Application (see below to download a paper copy).  Take this completed form, a copy of your COVID-19 vaccine card,  and a print of of your completed Mandatory Volunteer Training to the office of the school where you will volunteer.  The process may take up to a week.
